Aliceville POW Camp Reenactment
Friday, May 13, 2022 – Sunday, May 15, 2022
Join us for the WWII Aliceville POW Camp Reenactment! The festivities begin with a WWII movie at the Aliceville Entertainment Complex at 7pm on Friday. At 9:30 am on Saturday, the reenactors will arrive at the former site of the Aliceville Frisco depot at the railroad crossing on 3rd Avenue NW and commence the march along AL Hwy 17 to the site of the original camp, now the Aliceville Industrial Park as spectators look on. After a welcoming ceremony at 10:00, the reenactors will proceed to the mock camp site along Memorial Parkway at the Broad Street intersection, where they will engage in a variety of activities depicting life at the camp.
At 6pm Saturday there will be a USO Dinner Dance at the Aliceville City Hall featuring swing music by the Ed Jones Orchestra for listening and dancing and dinner by local caterers. 1940s era clothing encouraged, but not required. Admission $15 – tickets available online or at the Aliceville Museum. On Sunday reenactors will present more camp-life scenarios.
